and if you didn’t like it, you just kept moving. We
(Asian Aboriginals) were the majority, three quarters
of the town… We came to Broome in 1945 [and]
stayed in the orphanage for a while... They (parents
of children) had to get jobs straight away or the kids
would be taken off them and sent away.”
