The Philippine Embassy in Canberra joins the celebration of Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month #MANAMo2022 with the theme, “Our Seas, Our Livelihood, Our Life Source: A Whole-of-Nation Approach Towards Raising Maritime and Ocean Awareness” in the month of September. The Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines also adopted the sub-theme, “Philippines as an Archipelagic State: UNCLOS@40,” to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the signing of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Maritime cooperation is among the pillars of the Philippine Australia Comprehensive Partnership. As two maritime nations, the Philippines and Australia work together in protecting and preserving our marine resources and in promoting maritime security.
This month, the Philippine Embassy celebrates our maritime advocates in the Philippines and Australia who support the longstanding friendship and people-to-people linkages between our two countries.
